Information We Collect

Account Information

When you register, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and profile photo (optional). This information is used to create and manage your account.

Location Data

We collect real-time GPS location data when the app is active to facilitate pickup, route mapping, and drop-off. You can control location access through your device settings, though disabling it will limit app functionality.

Trip Data

We record trip details including pickup and drop-off locations, timestamps, route taken, fare charged, and driver assigned. This data is retained to provide trip history, process refunds, and improve service quality.

Payment Information

Payment transactions are processed through certified third-party payment providers. We store only a tokenized reference to your payment method — never your full card number, CVV, or banking credentials.

Device & Usage Data

We automatically collect device type, operating system version, app version, IP address, and in-app interactions. This helps us diagnose technical issues and improve the app experience.

How We Use Your Data

Service Delivery

Your data is primarily used to match you with drivers, calculate fares, process payments, and provide real-time trip updates. Without this data, we cannot deliver our core service.

Safety & Verification

We use trip and account data to detect fraudulent activity, verify identities, and investigate safety incidents. This includes sharing relevant data with drivers and, when legally required, with authorities.

Service Improvement

Aggregated and anonymized usage data helps us improve routing algorithms, reduce wait times, and develop new product features. This data cannot be used to identify individual users.

Customer Support

When you contact our support team, we use your account and trip data to resolve issues efficiently. Support communications may be recorded for quality assurance and training purposes.

Communications

We send transactional messages such as booking confirmations, driver arrival alerts, and receipts. With your opt-in consent, we may also send promotional offers or service updates. You can opt out at any time.

Data Sharing & Third Parties

Turn Taxi does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for their own marketing or commercial purposes — ever.

Driver Partners

Drivers are given your first name, pickup location, and destination to complete your trip. After trip completion, precise location history is no longer shared with drivers.

Payment Processors

We work with PCI-DSS compliant payment processors to handle transactions securely. These providers receive only the data needed to process your payment.

Legal Obligations

We may disclose your data to law enforcement or regulatory authorities if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.

Service Providers

We use trusted third-party services for cloud hosting, analytics, and customer support. All providers are bound by data processing agreements and are prohibited from using your data for their own purposes.

Data Security

Encryption

All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS 1.3. Sensitive data at rest is encrypted using AES-256 standards.

Active Accounts

We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

Account Deletion

If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, regulatory, or fraud prevention purposes. Anonymized trip data may be retained indefinitely.

Inactive Accounts

Accounts inactive for more than 24 months may be subject to data minimization, where we retain only the minimum information required for legal compliance.

Your Rights

Access & Portability

You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you in a structured, machine-readable format. Submit a request through the in-app settings or our contact page.

Correction

You can update most of your personal information directly in the app. If you believe any data we hold is inaccurate, contact our support team to have it corrected.

Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time from the app settings. Subject to legal retention requirements, we will process your request within 30 days.

Opt-Out

You may opt out of promotional communications at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email or through notification settings in the app. Transactional messages cannot be disabled while your account is active.
